OUR GLOBAL REACH
As clients continue to increase their global reach OBS Logistics is fortunate to have the opportunity to implement solutions in numerous locations across the world. There are now over 500 installations world-wide of the CALIDUS Warehousing and Transport Management systems.
The current level of CALIDUS implementation activity is well exampled by the fact that in the past few months the company has been involved in 30 implementations in countries including UK, Ireland, Belgium, Holland, Spain, Poland, Singapore, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia and Korea. – this equates to one implementation per week on average.
This international coverage, which has continued to build particularly through long-term relationships with our clients, has required OBS Logistics to provide a high level of business critical 7 x 24 hour support services across the globe, currently facilitated through support operations in the UK and Singapore.
In addition to technical resources with the necessary mix of skills OBS Logistics also employs staff from within the logistics industry so when it comes to training and implementation support the company can involve people who not only understand the IT solution but are also used to working within an operational environment and understand the demands that that brings.
The CALIDUS suite of software has been designed with this multi location, international usage in mind including multi lingual capability and the ability to operate the system across multiple time zones.
Through partnerships with the major hardware, technology and automation vendors OBS Logistics is able to provide enhanced solutions including RF / Scanning, Voice, In-Cab and links to conveyor and automation solutions.
A particular differentiator for OBS Logistics is the ability to combine these focused operational system solutions for the logistics industry with the ability to provide Managed Services. These Managed Services can vary in scope, from Facilities Management of our clients hardware in our separate, secure Data Centre in Runcorn ( with BSi accreditation of ISO 27001 ) through to a full outsourced Managed Service including hardware, application management professional services and support under a single hosted service contract.
The recently introduced ‘pay-as-you-use’ Solution as a Service (SaaS) has proved to be very popular within the global market place. Solution as a Service is the complete turnkey solution incorporating software and hardware financed by a fixed or flexible monthly payment.

Stephen McCartney, OBS Logistics, was recently invited by IBM to attend their global CIO Leadership Exchange which was held in Shanghai in February. The forum was attended by a mix of CIOs from global organizations such as BP, BASF, Coca-Cola and Astra Zeneca, and senior executives from IBM including the Chairman, President and CEO, Sam Palmisano.
Stephen met with senior IBM executives to understand and discuss strategies for facing the current challenges such as cost innovation and “cloud” computing for improving resource utilization.
“Not only was it a very professional event , but it gave OBS Logistics the opportunity to meet the top IBM management team, to gain new ideas and to network with business leaders and key industry influencers,” commented Stephen McCartney.
